Foil stamping is the application of pigment or metallic foil to paper where a heated die is stamped onto the material, making it stick to the surface leaving the design of the die on the paper. We can combine foil with embossing to create a more striking 3D image. We offer 16 different colors of foil stamping.

Because it requires a separate press run, a tolerance of +/- 1/64 inch is standard for registration of foil to printing graphic. Although we make all efforts to perfectly align the foil to the print, a shift of up to 1/64" may occur. Please keep that in mind when creating the artwork.

Please avoid very fine lines and small typeface. Be sure the space between the lines in the design is not too narrow.

We do not charge set-up fees or platemaking fees. Foil stamping dies are one-time use only and recycled after use.

Standard round corners can have a radius of 1/8", 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2". These are made on our manual round corner cutter machine and some minor imperfections can occur. Default one is 1/8".

Embossing produces raised effect on selected areas. The embossed pattern is raised against the background. As opposed to debossing, embossing will show throught the back side of the card, leaving a reversed impression.

Although we make all efforts to perfectly align the embossing to the print, a shift of up to 1/64 inch may occur. Most of the time the shifting will only show on a few cards. Please keep that in mind when creating the artwork. It is not recommend to emboss small text or fine lines.

To avoid any possible misalignment, you may choose to do a blind embossing. Blind means the embossed area is made without using ink on the embossed image. The embossing process alone creates the image or text on the paper.

Embossing cost includes a maximum surface of 3 square inch plate (For example, 3 sq. in. can be 2X1.5 or 3X1). Oversize embossing requires special attention, is more time consuming and requires a larger die. Therefore, extra cost will apply for surface larger than 3 square inch.

Debossing is a process by which a metal die is stamped into the surface of the paper, leaving a sunken impression of the design. Debossing process leaves no (or very little) marking on the other side of the card.
